All I know is that I live in a reliably blue state, New Mexico, which has excellent early voting. As well as incredibly easy voting on election day itself. Just show up at any polling place in your county and you're good to go. Every time I think about the possibility of relocating, I realize there are fewer and fewer states I'd be willing to move to.

On a personal note, I have one son who is in a PhD program in astronomy on the east coast. I'm hoping to relocate to be a whole lot nearer to him when he graduates and finds a permanent job. I will be needing to talk to him at some length about the places I am not willing to live in, and he should likewise not be willing to live there. My hope is that he comes to one of the many possible places for him in this part of the country (New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado) so I can stay where I am until I need to go into assisted living. My joke is that I want to be near enough to make it easy for him to come and sign the DNR orders. Honestly, I think we'll have a better relationship than that.

6. Some states that have passed unneeded legislation after 2020, have

decent core voting laws.

For example, Georgia still lets anyone vote by mail and has early voting. The new laws — based upon trump’s election lies and rubes’ desire to preserve white privilege — are concerning, but are unlikely to throw the 2022 or 2024 election, especially if voters are educated by Stacy Abrams’ organization and similar groups.

The worst thing about some of these laws is they give credence to trump’s lies.
