win 322 electoral college votes, book saysEric Trump, the former president's son, "flipped out" and yelled at his father's campaign data analysts at the White House as results came in on election night, according to an excerpt from a new book by Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker.
Eric had predicted to friends the night before that his father would win reelection with 322 electoral college votes, according to the book, "I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump's Catastrophic Final Year." He was upset that campaign staff were reporting otherwise.
"We pay you to do this," he yelled at staffers in the White House Map Room, which had been transformed into a Trump campaign war room. "How can this be happening?
Eric was reportedly confused as to how votes could continue to be counted through election night, as states began to process the unprecedented amount of absentee ballots, work which was delayed by some state legislatures until election day.

(43,049 posts)map room into a campaign room. This was the room FDR used to watch news from the fronts of WWII. It should be a sacred space.
Pretty much ever since it was built, the White House has been off limits for politics. The Capitol building, too-- congresscritters even have to leave the building to make campaign calls.

Everything Trump touches dies and unfortunately he has touched American democracy deeply and repeatedly.

(82,849 posts)But some of the former guy's supporters aren't entirely stupid. After four years of the former guy's administration (an administration that was installed despite losing the popular vote by nearly 3 million ballots because America fuck yeah!) how did anyone on their campaign imagine that he was going to increase his percentage of the popular vote? He'd spent four years denigrating the American people, their ancestry, their country, and insulting our intelligence. He played favorites with government power, and used it against many of his own voters. That is NOT a recipe for re-election.
Nitwits, one and all.
