First world problem / grumble

Went to a MLB game yesterday as my husband's date.
(Die-hard Cubs fan)

They were in town playing the Diamondbacks.

Less than an hour before departure, my husband remembered that a new policy forbids bringing any purse / bag over 6 & 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches into the park.

Anything bigger than that has to be clear plastic.

I guess the NFL has been doing this for years? I have never in my life attended an NFL game.

That size is impossible for me to accommodate my wallet, phone, and glasses case, let alone my medications that I need to carry with me, and what I call "comfort" items such as: chap stick, hand lotion, etc. Call me a ridiculous prude, but I just don't like the idea of all my stuff on view in a plastic bag. Not to mention that I don't even have such a bag. I had to put it in a freezer zip lock bag.

I was wearing a skirt and top without pockets. My husband was wearing cargo shorts.

He put a fabric bag in his shorts, which I immediately put all my stuff into once we were through security.

I'm not buying a special bag to go to MLB games, so I guess I just won't go anymore. This policy is so stupid.
If I had been wearing cargo shorts, I could carry all that stuff in my pockets, so how is this making us safer?

I don't own cargo shorts, nor do I intend to buy any.

It's not like I care about baseball that much anyway. I'll watch at home if I'm interested.
