Will the voting restrictions create permanent Republican majorities?

This appears to be the goal and Democrats can't seem to do anything about it.

Once there is a Republican majority in Congress all Democratic agendas, including restoring voter rights, would be blocked.
In 2024 it's possible that we could have another Republican president, helped by these voter restrictions.

If they hold both the Presidency and Congress there will be nothing to prevent them from making voter restrictions into Federal law and ensure a Republican majority in perpetuity. (The filibuster will be eliminated, of course, so they can implement this.)

It's so bizarre that this incredible scenario seems possible, particularly with the demonstrable insanity of the Republican Party but it's happening and the message I'm getting is that it can't be stopped.

Has anyone heard of a way out of this?

Republicans can suppress all they want to, if people keep themselves registered and VOTE, there is nothing that republicans can do.

When we vote, we win. Our biggest problem is that too many of our voters sit on the sidelines at critical times.

races, especially US Senate. We are hung on gerrymandering unless the two Voting bills pass in Congress. One of the provisions is for all redistricting to be handled by non partisian commission instead of the legislature. That will go a long way towards leveling the field.

We have gerrymandered the MAGATS out of existence here in CA. in 2018 we took 7 extra seats we shouldn't have been able to win. It's working wonderfully.

weeks of lockdown. The conservative Supreme Court and US Supreme Court backed them up the night before an election for a new Supreme Court Justice. Dems got so pissed off, we stood in line 12 hours and some in the rain. I voted by handing in my ballot to a national guardsmen. We won by 10%. GOTV start early educating voters on what they need and help them get it.

That resulted in permanent Republican majorities in many congressional districts. Now they want to accomplish the same thing in at-large elections.

in 2020. We had a really good shot at flipping the Texas house and the vote was very close in the flippable races. Between undervoting and Republican & independent voters who voted for Biden but voted for Republicans downballot we lost our best shot at having power in the redistricting.

They will have an impact at the margins… which means that in very close elections they will win a few races that they would otherwise lose. But that can’t outweigh normal political swings.

At least until the next census in 2030, possibly until demographic change and Republican death rate eclipse each other.

When the GOP can gerrymander themselves into the majority, and legislatures can overturn election results, the future looks grim for Dems and democracy.

The next six weeks are critical to the future of democracy.

Anyone who says otherwise is delusional, in denial, or has questionable motives.

GOTV is a tool, not an entire solution. There's only so much vote to get out. In fact the best way to GOTV would be to ensure that people can vote D, that it will count, and that a democratic win will be honored. Democratic liberal policy benefits the public. That's why republicons have to cheat.

Every time Democrats win, the republicons determine how, and pass laws and regulations to make sure it won't happen again. They won't stop. Gerrymandering, voter suppression, voting machines, and they're now passing laws that will allow them to overturn the results of elections they lose.

Some people on this site need to face reality.
