I salute Mary Wallace "Wally" Funk on her maiden flight into space.

I know there is a contingent on DU (and likely elsewhere) that harbor antipathy toward the Billionaires Into Space club.

But today has an event worthy of celebration. Wally Funk is finally going into space after qualifying to do so in NINETEEN FIFTY NINE. The reasons it took so long are not exactly simple, but neither are they difficult to understand. Gender was part of it.

Go Wally!!!!!
