Ideas? That is her platform? Ideas?
Cleveland is the poorest big city in the country. Families are struggling. The status quo is how we got here. If poverty is a policy choice its time to make new choices.
Not how to make those ideas, whatever they are become law, no policy and no plan, nothing. Just an idea.
Ideas are great, solutions are better and as a Congresswoman she needs to be ready from day one to write policy to make those changes, whatever they are.

(1,725 posts)"Status quo" bullsh*t. Is she implying that Fudge let down the city / her district? Really? Is that how she got picked to run HUD?
Here's a list from 2019, pre-pandemic - Cleveland is not even on that list:
https://www.statista.com/statistics/205637/percentage-of-poor-people-in-the-top-20-most-populated-cities-in-the-us/
Since this is dated 2021, it's "post"-pandemic; most of the recent lists have what I call our sister city Detroit as #1 by a wide margin:

Pandemic hit us hard, especially downtown, where limited, if any, fans could attend our 3 venues (Cavs, Browns, Indians), not to mention the restaurants, bars, hotels. Also Cleveland State U. is large, many students, no classes - those students spend a fortune down there. Just like every other city. WTF is wrong with her?
If she had ideas she would state them.
She got nothing.
Plus she has talks about her home town Cleveland. Hasn't lived there in 11 years. Her residence is in Maryland.
...and I didn't even mention Playhouse Square (live theater), a prosperous orchestra, and the shops. Employees servicing all of those activities suffered.
Can't wait 'til this is over.

(25,618 posts)"status quo" policies ignoring working/middle classes. "Status quo" meaning money in politics, that everyone except you is corrupt.
The simplistic populist idea: the virtuous 'Us' (the people, the 99% -- there's a "will of the people" and they all agree whether they're Democrats, Republicans, non-voters, you just need to bring the message to them and the workers' revolution will begin) versus the "Them" (the corrupt elite establishment 1%).
Sure, these are totally the best ideas!

(16,976 posts)Amen! Very simplistic. Voters have shown they have rejected the superficiality at least twice now in the last few years.

(16,976 posts)She sounds like she's just phoning it in -- so superficial.

(146,331 posts)They're as common as flies. However, those who talk about unspecified ideas almost never have actual plans to make those ideas real.
Here's an idea: "We need to conquer poverty." That's a good idea. How to do that, though, requires a plan that has a strong chance of succeeding. Let's hear your plans, candidates, not just your ideas.
