Because I am sick as dog these last two days with Covid.
Sick, but not hospitalized. I'm not to the point of needing oxygen - I can stay home. I'll take it.
I love the rural life, I do. But I really want to take a baseball bat to so many of my neighbors.
We should have been done with this but no, all you snot rags decided to volunteer to be human petri dishes until a new and "better" version of Covid came along.
Fuck 'em.

(205,320 posts)But grateful that you're vaccinated and will be okay. I can understand your anger, we should be doing better by now, not dreading doing worse. We should have been able to reach the vaccination goal easily, we have more than enough vaccine, it's free and available. But you did the right thing and can look forward to feeling better, soon, I hope. Hang in there, we're all here wishing you a safe and speedy recovery and understand exactly where you're coming from...

(1,000 posts)I cannot kick a regular flu without steroids, last one I had was eleven years ago, it was bad, but I contracted it from my sister at my husband's funeral, and it killed her within a month. Years ago when I was in nursing school they explained the 1917 pandemic, they told us back then we were long overdue for the next one. A year ago March I had planned to take a trip out of state, but I did not like what I was hearing out of China. And sure enough, that was it. Dear Leader praised Xi's handling of the outbreak, and then followed his playbook of denial and downplaying. And in typical trumpanzee fashion, they blame China and attack random innocent Asian people here-because........just because. The early mitigation that could have controlled this nightmare did not happen, now it has a foothold, and the virus does what any virus does, adapt for survival. How cliché is it that this looks like a cheesy horror flick that always starts with politicians ignoring scientists?

(892 posts)I am off to get a COVID test this morning. I received my two vaccinations this spring as well.
I feel terrible. I have sneezed for days and have a constant sore throat, slight fever, chills, shortness of breath, and extreme fatigue.
I know what a cold feels like. I also have pretty bad seasonal allergies and know what they feel like. Somehow this just feels different.
I don't know what symptoms you are having. I have been wearing my mask if I am out and about. However, none of the guys my husband works with wear masks, and we have no idea if any of them have received vaccinations. I don't know where I could have picked up the virus if I do test positive.
I really do hope you feel better very soon, The Polack MSgt.

(658 posts)I could not have said it better.
Mine started on Friday of last week with a headache. Saturday with stuffy sinus, sore throat, runny nose, and sneezing. That progressed to coughing over the next couple of days. The cough is gone, my sinuses are dry and I'm sneezing a bit, and my body is just drained of energy, but over-all I'm feeling way better.
I started my summer break this week, so I'll be home for the next 2 months, or until the heat breaks down here, so I'm in good shape.
I'm very glad that I got vaccinated as well, and as for those who did not, I feel exactly as you do.
Here's to your continued improvement, hope you feel better.

(658 posts)and my chest hurt pretty bad. This has mostly been a sneezing event, but the cough was pretty tough for those 2 days. My nose ran like a slightly opened water faucet non-stop until yesterday morning. My sinuses are very dry right now and very uncomfortable.
I was able to sneak in to get my shots back in March because there were so many appointments being missed. I've got friends who kept me posted about available doses caused by the missed appointments. As bad as this was, I couldn't imagine how bad it would have been if I hadn't been vaccinated.

Their entire philosophy has devolved to hating Democrats. No other thought enters their dim and sluggish minds
Every day I'm looking at Pritzker Sucks! signs. Even in front of farms that would've went bankrupt without the deal Pritzker made with Taiwan to buy Illinois soybeans.

And the anti-vaxxers are going to need to be required to be vaccinated, either by employers, school systems, airlines and/or state and fed governments for us to get beyond this. This is not a freedumb issue with this incredibly transmissible variant. This is a national (international) crisis. Keep us posted.

I couldn't say whether I've had Covid or not
since I might have been asymptomatic.
Anyway, so far so good and I'm glad to see
that the vaccine is working for you!
I MIGHT have been hit with CV in late June despite being fully vaccinated and covering, or it could have been a seasonal allergy sneaking in when leaving coverings in the car in the driveway. And with CV apparently acting like drying paint...I neglected to keep up with overall CV other than noting news reports.
I resumed attempts at tracking ((weekly, because FL then IA switched to weekly reporting, KS does it thrice weekly, many M-F, at least NE FINALLY resumed reporting albeit weekly)). ((But then I had to show up predawn to an event where only a half-dozen others covered up, so 15 Jul got skipped.))
Bottom line: ALL 50 states plus DC had just about thrice ((to a LOT more)) new weekly cases from 8-22 Jul than they had from 1-8 Jul. ((It's accelerating, people.))
Time to wear masks before stepping out the door??

(20,759 posts)I've been waiting for this.
At a meeting this morning one of our state folks delivered a lot of painful statistics on case rates, hospitalizations and available bed rates, etc. and then asked the ol' "good news or bad news?" thing.
Bad news first: Our state's rate of breakthrough infections is increasing, especially in border areas with our asshole-infested neighbor states (TX and AZ - CO is fine so far).
Good news: Hospitalization rate among breakthrough cases is negligible and so far death rate extremely low. Nonexistent where there are no additional vulnerability factors.
So I knew... people I know, like, care about, etc., who conscientiously got vaccinated, yep, we're gonna see some cases.
The esposo and I, having additional vulnerability factors, are re-implementing the 2020 lockdown mode as far as contact with other people goes. Cross-country trip to see my elderly Mom in Minnesota on hold again, dammit.
But I am so glad you're fighting it off. Be well soon!
