Big protest in D.C. on January 6th... Be there, will be wild!
Why did he choose January 6th? Was it just a random date on the calendar?
By coincidence, it just happened to be the day that Mike Pence would preside over the Electoral College votes.
It was Trump's last chance to stay in the White House, which he coveted.
However difficult to believe, that appears to be the date (Dec 19th) that Trump began his conspiracy to stop the certification of the Electoral Votes. His dearest hope was that Mike Pence would refuse to accept the votes from four of the closest states and send them back to those states to be re-counted and re-certified.
On January 6th, the day of the Electoral College certification, Trump addressed the mob, just a short ways from the Capitol. He knew there were violent elements in the crowd that could be guided to attack the Capitol, if needed.
When he saw that Mike Pence was not going to do his bidding and send the ballots back to the chosen state legislatures, he commanded his mob to march on the Capitol. He told them if they did not fight like hell, they would not have a country. When Pence began the process, they attacked.
Trump was confident in his ability to command the mob to do his dirty work. He had worked out the details and had his people in place. No one yet knows if he wanted violence or if he wanted Pence or Pelosi murdered, but that seemed to be the intent of some in the mob?
Although he told the mob that he would march down to the Capitol with them, instead, he went back to the White House to enjoy it on TV.

(31,017 posts)At Least it looked like that. Does anyone doubt that, if the mob had been able to get to Speaker Pelosi or congresswoman Ocasio Cortez that they wouldve torn them to pieces. Or that they wouldve hanged Mike Pence if they couldve gotten to him. Does anyone doubt that? I certainly dont.

We're going to walk down. Anyone you want, but I think right here, we're going to walk down to the Capitol--
And we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them.
Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong"...

CNN had some Goper on tonight who was saying for 20 years or more the loser's side has been contesting elections. But, never has a Prez claimed the election was stolen and held rallies on that basis -- "Stop the Steal."

I can just see the number of books that will come out about it. It will be studied by future history majors. They are definitely on the wrong side of history.
