I don't watch much Olympics anymore, but I know there's been many times when the silver medalist was choking back tears because they didn't win the gold. A lot of the news coverage feeds that, too.
So and so "had to settle for the silver". "Are you disappointed that you only got a silver medal?"

550 grams of the medal is silver, only 6 grams gold is used in the gold plating.
A gold medal is mostly silver.
Very little discernment between both places IMO.
Simone made the right move for her and her teammates.
