The Hard-Core Right-Wing GQP Is Backing Itself into a Corner

Even a cornered rat can be dangerous, but that's not going to help the GQP contingent that is deeply committed to "The Big Lies."

The problem for them is that there's only a small minority of Americans who have complete and utter contempt for the truth. As COVID-19 roars back, giving the lie to all of the propaganda disseminated by the GQP, and as the truth of January 6 makes headlines from the lips of the very Police officers who were trying to defend even those who now condemn them, the scope of their argument shrinks ever smaller.

"COVID is a hoax!" Well, the unvaccinated who refused the shots because GQP leaders told them they were unnecessary are now getting sick and dying, along with their relatives and even children. That Big Lie is proving deadly, especially to those who believed it and refused to take the vaccine.

"Donald Trump Won!" Nonsense. He didn't, and his followers tried their hardest to overturn the election. Holding to that line, the GQP core is looking more and more ridiculous every day, and shedding otherwise rational supporters along the way. That Big Lie is falling apart, even as futile fake "audits" disintegrate.

And today, we're seeing the same moronic GQP leaders, including the fabled Federalist Society attack Simone Biles, saying that she "let down America." Weaklings and cowards condemning the brave. That's what that is. That is always what that is.

As time passes, the far right core of the GQP makes it self look more and more ridiculous every day. False accusations and projections of their own weakness and cowardice are becoming more and more obvious.

And, like cornered rats, they will retreat into their corner further and further, until they become nothing but a hissing, writhing mass of rodents, attacking each other because they have nobody else to attack.

Losers, one and all. Miserable, nasty vermin, each and every one one of them. Let them destroy themselves.

9. I do think that 40% is a major overstatement.

When push comes to shove, I think many in that group will end up rejecting "The Big Lies" in the end. They may not directly say so, but some will simply not participate in election activities at all.
