When we think of the smoke-filled back rooms, filled with politicians and movers and shakers, how often do we think of who that gathering is trying to benefit?
These days, if there are indeed backroom political discussions, Democratic leadership are setting policy to benefit citizens and this country.
If there are r's talking policy in the backroom, it is to benefit traitor.
What is better for our country?

I think that in general, Dems are hearing what people are saying, even if not all of them are listening. The who are listening are representing the diverse voices in that back room. R's are focused on one person and what is best for that one person.
