Otherwise we're looking at Idiocracy anyway.

People who are vulnerable can die off through no fault of their own as well.

(33,643 posts)thinking it quite strange that the people declining vaccination are acting in a manner that's contrary to their survival chances, and that it's to be expected that their genes will not propagate as efficiently as those who choose the opposite course.
He'd likely conclude there's a certain lack of 'fitness' among anti-vaxxers.

(11,728 posts)I asked because from what I understand about Darwin, he was a major bleeding heart. As much as you could be in the 19th century.
There is a lot of conflation of the man with "Social Darwinism" which he was definitely and vehemently opposed to. Herbert Spencer a contemporary of Darwin's applied natural selection (incorrectly) to human beings. Darwin spoke out vehemently against it.

(17,000 posts)As a social worker Ive often found myself counseling someone who has made a royal mess of their life. One bad decision after the other and Ive always had compassion for them. We do the best we can with what we have to work with right? Yeah, whatever. Im over it, Scrooge was right. Many can't go there; and many would rather die. If they would rather die, said Scrooge they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.

(50,941 posts)could be done to prevent what we are about to experience, I was furious at them for not doing it.
But now it is just going to happen no matter what they do. If people get their first shot today, they won't be protected for 6 weeks and that will be too late.
At this point all people like you and me can do is duck and wait it out.
And it's going to be bad.

(63,221 posts)This guy is such a hot mess. As Chris Cuomo accurately states, he's an idiot, he's seems to be constantly under the influence of something, he looks like he's been sleeping in the same clothes for a week, and I can't be sure, but is his restaurant in a strip mall?
Initially i thought it was some prestigious LA celebrity hot spot, but then I saw the video above and I was wondering why anyone would want to go there in the first place. And how on earth do you prove you are NOT vaccinated? Or are they just trying to be cute?
Ugh! I am so sick of these people with their willful ignorance. Living in this country is starting to feel like being dropped into the most effed up episode of the Twilight Zone ever. I can't believe how insane things have gotten in such a short period of time. And NOBODY IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT! At least not fast enough. We don't have all the time in the world.
