You mask up going in and then take them off when seated. You put it back on when you leave. Is that really safe?

I always thought that was defeating the whole purpose, and it's why I got a lot of take-out until after being vaxxed for a couple months.

I still sit outside most of the time, and won't go to small or crowded places.

Nothing is 100% safe.

Wearing a mask while walking through a restaurant is safer for everyone than not.

It’s really not that difficult of a concept.

My I suggest...take out? Even here in relatively safe New England, and even though we've both been vaxed since March, we're thinking seriously about going the take out only route again. Thinking about it anyways.

Booths 6 ft apart, tall plexiglass barriers , open air seating, and elongated tables where the servers can set down and pick up plates without getting too close.
While risky, it's less risky than having to go to a lab for blood work or to a clinic for a medical procedure or check up, which is something many of us have to do, COVID or no.
Just commenting, not recommending.

I hate Anti-vaxxers. We had plans for a birthday dinner this month, but thanks to Delta, that's not going to happen.

My favorite restaurant in Chicago had reduced seating, plexiglass between booths, masking when ordering/not seated - as well as the wait/buss staff being masked.

That seemed like a reasonable accommodation.

We went out once in a very liberal part of Michigan and the care was less than stellar. They were supposed to separate tables but it appeared they grouped everyone together for their convenience - most of the restaurant was empty and they had six tables grouped/occupied in one section. Rey annoying.

You enter with mask on.
Sit at table with mask on, until food is ordered and delivered.
Take mask off to eat.
Put mask on, when finished eating.
Exit with mask on.

That's how I understood it.

It's mostly back to "business as usual", depending on the restaurant/owner.

With a parent who's on immunotherapy for metastatic melanoma (even though COVID immunized), we're likely back to take-out only, now that Delta is rearing its ugly head.

I just started a grad program at Duke and Duke requires all students to be vaxxed (already was), but just announced last week that everyone who's in a building on campus must wear a mask. Again, with the alarming rise of Delta, I'm wondering if/how long we'll remain on-campus or return to the remote learning format that they used for the last 18 months of my degree program (via Zoom).

They're the ones who have to clean up after spreaders and are in direct contact where their mouths were. Like most essential workers they also are on the blunt receiving end of verbal abuse by the self-entitled.

Very creative but sad that owners need to make the situation clear.

Fauci was 100% correct that if right wing media had been around in the 50s we’d still be dealing with polio and measles. They have created a false separate reality that millions of people bought into.
