Why does ResidentPortal want to know my birthdate?

I was just about to sign up for it I mean to create an account, mainly to report things that need to be fixed. But they say birthdate is mandatory. why do they need that?

Anyway... Age checks like that are generally just a cheap CYA for the app/website to say they 'tried' to keep kids out. They even have this non-sense on websites for games rated mature. They have no way of verifying the date entered so... Just put in anything that will put your age over 21.

If someone asks for information that they don't need and there is no legal reason for them having that information, my motto is give them exactly what they deserve.

5. A helluva lot of places use that as a security check

for identification purposes. Pharmacies, banks, and others. It's one more confirmation point to prevent identity theft. It's also used to verify your age in case there are minimum age limits for things like renting property.

I assume the DOB is for some verification that the account holder asking for a plumber is you, not a bored teenager two apartments down the hall.
