Shontel Brown takes OH-11 Democratic primary; Turner concedes

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) - Nina Turner addressed her supporters in Cleveland Tuesday evening to concede the Democratic primary race for Ohio’s 11th Congressional District seat.

Early unofficial results show Shontel Brown in the lead with 29,847 votes to Nina Turner’s 26,812. Brown had won 49.78% of the vote with nearly 88% of precincts reporting. Turner had garnered 44.71%.

With about 75% of the precincts counted Brown addressed her crowd. Although the race has not been officially called, Brown and her supporters were upbeat.

Turner, as well, addressed her supporters at a separate event. She conceded the election.

The primary drew national attention and was viewed by many as a proxy war between the Democratic establishment and the party’s more progressive wing.

I feel kind of sorry for angry bitter people. They take the possibility of joy right out of their own life.

You put your finger on what bugs me so much about people who choose bitterness (sometimes it’s merited but often, as in a situation where a politician loses an election, i.e. in the normal course of politics, it’s not). It’s so unappealing, especially compared with good sportsmanship and good grace. In situations like this it’s just such a poor choice.

Now we/I won’t have to suffer through all of Nina Turner’s yapping - she is BEYOND off-putting. Must admit, though, it might have been fun watching the fights between Nina and Margie Traitor Gangrene…

Go Shontel!
