Only 25 ICU beds available in Arkansas as COVID cases surge

https://www.localmemphis.com/mobile/article/news/health/coronavirus/no-icu-beds-available-arkansas-health-officials-say/91-5691621a-b46d-46ab-9461-a0e9b3e3c5ba

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Secretary of Health Dr. Jose Romero said there is no space in any state hospitals for inpatient care (ICU beds.)

In a meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 4, Dr. Romero asked the steering committee to direct money from the American Rescue Plan to get more hospital staff and beds for COVID-19 patients.

A hospital bed would cost $4,000 each.

Dr. Rawle Seupaul, the UAMS Chief Medical Officer said the hospital can't give adequate care to patients as the delta variant is causing mostly unvaccinated Arkansans to receive inpatient care.

On Edit: more at link.

Why don't hospitals impose a vax requirement tor covid care? Dead serious here!

How dare these idiots present to hospitals for scientific care after refusing vax & masking?

What about people who are injured in car or home accidents, have heart attacks or strokes, etc?

I'm furious about ghis coddling of these shitbags!

That’s why I would say gyms, unused warehouses and unused old large stores right now.

Perfect use for an old Kmart or Pamida.

Since the qpukes insist on cramming kids into petri dish classrioms without even masks.

(I'm sure you didn't mean gyms in schools. Just clarifying.)

I am dead serious. Why aren't hospitals doing this? How dare they endanger everyone's health by catering to covidiots?!?

If the school building is COMPLETELY empty.

I think of those because we have quite a few of them in MI, especially old elementary and middle schools in rural areas.

Any unoccupied larger building will do for palliative care.

Problem is if we send them home, they may infect their children.

We dont want willfully unvaccinated covidiots here. We have enough of them already.

They continued voting the same way after they had sufficient information on COVID to vote differently, and they will indeed continue on this path in the next elections. They have to live with their collective decisions now.

However, catering to their ignorance endangers sane people, not only in that state, but wherever patients might be shipped off to.

Memphis has several hospitals & wonderful Democratic leadership. Surrounding counties have none of this.

Guess where patients from surrounding counties go for medical care, including those in northern MS.

Can hospitals not refuse admission or put willful anti vaxers in palliative care in unused buildings while leaving beds free for kids, heart attacks, strokes, accident victims etc?

Do you know?

a legitimate reason for denying care. I usually don't make slippery slope objections (it's juvenile in most cases), but it certainly would open the door to health policies you'd definitely not like, especially in places like Arkansas.

With more than 700 quarantined in one district, 2 weeks & 2 days into the schoolyear, that's my biggest fear!

This is making me crazy!
