Conor Lamb has announced his candidacy for the PA US Senate seat. Admittedly, idk a lot about his record but the more I research, the more into him I get.
*Conor Lamb was (among an impressive & long list) a co-sponsor of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2020. [/b]#Conor4PA

Cosponsors - H.R.7120 - 116th Congress (2019-2020): George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2020

*Voted for the Equality Act, HR1, PRO Act - quite a record
*Conor Lamb wrote an op-ed last year about defunding the police. He doesnt focus on attacking folks to his left instead, he focuses his attacks on calling out the right:
"Conor Lamb: Who really wants to defund the police?"

Outstanding professionalism, diplomacy & unwavering in laying the blame on the shoulders of the RW GOP.

(3,697 posts)I will donate to his Senate campaign. If I recall he flipped his district when he ran first time. PA can get quite conservative outside Philly and a few other larger cities. He should make a strong candidate for a statewide race.

(15,325 posts)His political focus is exactly where it belongs.
We need more like him in our legislating body.
MyOwnPeace
(16,952 posts)and he does what he has to do to keep his seat in the House. If he does not stay there the district will probably go red again.
However, he was one of a group that voted NOT to have Nancy Pelosi as the Speaker of the House for the current term.
Again, I believe he's doing what he has to do to keep his seat in that district.
I, for one, would much rather see Lt. Governor Fetterman as our next Senator.
Budi
(15,325 posts)He was recognizing his long time friend & collegue.
Legislatures do it all the time with their safe votes.
There's no scandalous bad blood to be found here.
mcar
(42,467 posts)He's got the PA Democratic cred and outlook,a la Joe Biden and Bobby Casey.
Budi
(15,325 posts)He would bring a lot of loyalty & sensibility to a Democratic power shift in the Senate.
We seriously need his professionalism.

(84,057 posts)Frankly I don't want to see what happened in MA happen to Ohio. Joe Kennedy gave up his Congressional seat to run for Senate. He lost, even his own district. So now we have a Democrat, that was an Independent...changed to R to work and vote on Charlie Bakers reelection campaign...then flipped back to D as my Rep. I don't loke him much and he is inundating me with mail,
Months ago people were praising Fetterman now I hear he sucks...carrying long guns and aiming them at people. Not my state but I need to look into this before I support one over another.
Budi
(15,325 posts)The Kennedy choice had something to do with future movement in MA by Maura Healy.
I think..went something like that.
You would understand more about that twist than I.
I honestly could never be a politician in the high stakes business it is today.

(298,021 posts)I know what you mean but I think the circumstances may be different for Lamb.
This is what I've been reading..
21. PA is losing a seat and the most endangered one is
PA-17, Lamb's district. He's running for Senate most probably because he knows his district will either be eliminated or he'll be matched against another incumbent like Mike Kelly of neighboring PA-16. His House reelection chances won't be real good.

I am tired beyond my years.
We can't afford to lose one seat in the Senate or Congress.
I can't make an educated comment until I read all that is happening.
Cha
(298,021 posts)on your mind.
Yeah.. just thought you'd like to know.. I certainly found it interesting.

Cha
(298,021 posts)it pans out.. it's all so freaking scary.. we have to keep the House & it seems so many all over the place are trying to destroy out goals.
Thank Goodness Shontel Brown Won.. It can't be overstated how Huge that is!
sheshe2
(84,057 posts)However Shontel was a damn fine indicator of where we can go. That is forward.
Cha
(298,021 posts)as well.. cenk must be pissed.. oh wait we know he is and that's Good for Democracy!
sheshe2
(84,057 posts)But we knew that.
Cenk is Sunk.
Now seriously I have to sleep.
Cha
(298,021 posts)Are you for Lamb now?
Have you seen this info on why he's probably running for Senate?

Budi
(15,325 posts)We need him in the Senate.
Professional, credible & a solid trust factor & definately not simply a populist.
His focus is on the long term & how to methodically get us there.
He's serious & focused on our Democratic policies.
I couldn't be happier about Lamb's entering this race.
Another solid Blue added to the Senate is exactly what we need.
Cha
(298,021 posts)was calling out the Fraudsters. but now hearing some not so wonderful things about him.
And you bring up excellent points about Conor Lamb!
Budi
(15,325 posts)I am all in favor of sending Lamb to fill Toomey's Senate seat.
If his current seat is being eliminated, then absolutely do not run the risk of losing this leader. The Democratic Party will carry him to the Senate, because he is so perfectly suited to bring honor to that Senate seat & add much needed power to his fellow Democrats.
This choice is so good on many levels.

(490 posts)Fetterman's image is very PA. I thought he'd be a slam dunk as the gubernatorial nominee.
