with an anti vaxer who badgered my niece on FB after she posted a got vaxed photo. She went on and on about all the people she knew who suffered horrendous illness from the vaccine. Now I've lived a long time, know many people and have a large family. Not one of them suffered any serious reactions. Anyone know a good comeback to say to these fools?

Enough playing nice and logical and respectful. Call em out. Put up or shut up.

(47,419 posts)I keep it very short - "That's not true" is more than enough. Sometimes I add a smiley, which I'm sure annoys the crap out of them. They are just baiting people and looking for an argument. It would be a waste of time and energy to explain the evidence and known facts.
Some people just like to fight.

(8,048 posts)Chances are good to excellent that anyone who says they know lots of people suffering horrendous illness from the vaccine is probably bullshitting.
Ask them for some kind of proof, and see what happens.

You need to protect her from the craziness of the internet - or it could be the death of her or the person she is. Protect her until she learns to protect herself.

Otherwise, any conversation is a waste of time.

(5,810 posts)my family was going on vacation to Mexico. At the time the authorities recommended getting typhoid shots prior to going so my mom took my sister and me to get the vaccine. She and my father also got it because the water in Mexico was notorious for making people sick. We were sick with fever for a couple of days after getting the shot. Our arms were quite red and sore at the injection site. Within a couple of days we were fine and back to normal.
So while we had a reaction to the vaccine, it was still better than getting typhoid on our trip and probably having to cut the trip short to come home for treatment. The two days of reacting to the vaccine was a small price to pay for getting protection from a disease that could have killed us.
Any inconvenience or short term illness from the Covid vaccine is far better than the risks of remaining unvaccinated and possibly facing long haul Covid or even death.
Consider THAT.

(500 posts)Mother Nature will vaccinate almost every un-vaccinated person. The Mother Nature vaccine has killed millions of people and tens of million others that were given the vaccine by Mother Nature have damaged bodies. Whether it be lungs, brain, heart, blood vessels or all of the above.
I know many of them, and knew many of them, personally.

Here's a link to the facts:

You could post the link, and cut and paste some of the pertinent information in your post.
