Postal Service to slow certain mail deliveries starting in October

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) on Friday finalized a plan effective Oct. 1 to slow down some first-class mail deliveries as part of efforts to cut red ink.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy proposed in March to revise existing one- to three-day service standards to one to five days for first-class mail. USPS said on Friday that 61% of first-class mail will remain at its current standard.

Starting Aug. 29, USPS will raise prices of first-class postage stamps to 58 cents from 55 cents. Congress is considering a plan ... including eliminating a requirement that USPS pre-fund retiree health benefits for 75 years.

However removing the poison pill republicans caused about funding 75 years ahead for retirees.. I wonder where the cash windfall from all that money is gonna go?in dejoy's fucking pocket?

And the post office isnt
Supposed to make profits, dejoy probably has his grubby fingers in that too.

Presumably well-meaning ones.

And no, very doubtful DeJoy is going to be allowed to skim if this requirement goes away. He's a salaried employee and I'm sure there's plenty of oversight over the USPS funds that would prevent it.

and how often workers get totally fucked, not getting the money they're owed and had counted on for retirement ... I think you'll begin to grasp why it's not quite as cut and dry as you're making it out ... all due respect.

He needs to be shown the door faster than a piece of express mail. Hopefully he’s indicted soon for his myriad campaign finance violations which should accelerate the process of his flushing. A truly execrable weasel. The last remaining vile Trump-like wannabe in charge of an institution with a constitutionally specified mission. Unacceptable is an understatement . His presence makes it impossible to remove the stench of criminal rot which permeated the entire federal government thanks to Agent Orange.

Throwing away million$ worth of mail sorting machines and going back to manual labor.

Surely there must be a cost-benefit analysis to make such a business decision. Let's see it.

I don't think this will change much in my service. First Class has not been 1-3 days for 25 years here. Mail from NJ has always been 5 to 7 business days. I had a 32 day from Philly. But packages from the west coast have often been 1-2 days. My postmaster won't even discuss. It is what it is is the attitude. Can't change it.
