(3,396 posts)I used to love to fly. Now I despise the airlines, their sardine seating, lousy service, and general lack of customer service.
I'm to the point that I'd rather walk than fly "The Friendly Sky's".
Capitalism at. It's "finest".

(94,571 posts)Unlike hotels and restaurants, air travelers are largely driven by ticket price, so airlines can only make up the lost revenue by cutting services. You get what you pay for.

(25,857 posts)at least according to the passengers, all airlines suck.
Get over yourself. Really.
Yeah, I know that things are a lot different from what they used to be, but guess what? You passengers are mostly to blame. Over and over, time and again, you went for the cheapest option possible. You acquiesced to low, low, low fares with add-on charges for things like checking baggage, or seat selection, or meals. Cheap, cheap cheap. And you went along with it.
I worked as a ticket agent at DCA (National Airport in Washington, DC) from 1969 to 1979. I saw a lot. Including how completely entitled many passengers were. We were treated as servants, as peons, not fit to be polite to. Which is no wonder we retaliated when we could. Trust me, if you were decent to us, you didn't get that retaliation.
Here's the thing. Even then, we were working weekends and holidays, and NEVER got an extra day off. Never. We worked five days a week, 50 weeks a year. Those holidays you got? Forget it. We never had that extra day off. Okay, so yes, we got extra pay back then, but we were still working five days a week, 50 weeks a year.
You need to try working for an airline for at least 60 days, preferably longer. Ticket counter, gate, baggage loading, reservations, any job involving getting the passengers and their baggage on board the plane, and then getting the plane out on time.
Then I'll listen to you.

(6,829 posts)If you think flying sucks, then drive or take a train. Personally I'd rather endure a 4 or 5 hour flight than drive 4 days. I'd be MORE uncomfortable and aggravated driving
And imo, you get back what you give out. If you're polite, you get politeness back. If you're a cranky shit, you're probably not going to get a good response back.

Without some details about what happened to you, we have no way to evaluate your broad statement.
we can do it
(12,184 posts)Giving credit not refund is not trying. After canceling a morning flight we were checked in for in the middle of the night with nothing available for 4 days.
