Math, Demographics and Covid.

Has anyone bothered to do the math to determine the ratio of Republican voters who are dying for their beliefs? It's a no brainer that anti-vaxxers are going to see the reaper side of their decisions.

Not long ago someone showed how close our elections are due to the Electoral College and gerrymandering. In some states, it came down to a hundred votes in Republican controlled areas, to undermine the entire state. Would showing the math to Republicans prove how much they have to lose because anti-vax strategies are taking a toll on their voting margins?

Remember, these are the same folks who believe lowering taxes on the ultra rich will increase revenues for state and federal governments.

Math to them is like kryponite. It makes them get all weak and woozy.

Definitely not all repugs are the ones dying. It does frustrate that they are being quiet on various numbers though.

Perhaps their desired outcome of chaos and division is a better strategy than keeping their base alive?

The old Roman strategy of "divide and conquer" is more effective than having a large base?

They probably figure they don't need a large number of voters anyway. They can use voter suppression, gerrymandering and other cheating methods to "win" an election.

I think it has been a cold calculation. Most of the GOP leadership has gotten vaccinations and taken precautions in private. But they have weaponized public health as a power play. The more chaos and division, the more their ruthless sociopathy can take hold.

but as large as the numbers are, they are probably not putting any kind of a dent into the number of Republican voters. Only some of those dying would be registered Republicans who always vote and always vote Republican.

Likewise, as many as are dying, there's not any kind of a drop in population. At least not so far. Keep in mind over 10,000 babies are born every single day in this country, some 385,000 world wide. Infant mortality isn't what it used to be, so the vast majority of those born live to grow up and reproduce.

https://covidtracking.com/race

Nationwide, Black people have died at 1.4 times the rate of white people.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/health-equity/racial-ethnic-disparities/disparities-deaths.html

Data on race and ethnicity for more than 90% of people who died from COVID-19 reveal that the percent of Hispanic or Latino, non-Hispanic Black, and non-Hispanic American Indian or Alaska Native people who have died from COVID-19 (red bars) is higher than the percent of these racial and ethnic groups among the total U.S. population (blue bars). This disparity is even greater when the percentages are age-standardized (adjusted for differences in the age distribution across racial and ethnic groups). Hispanic or Latino, non-Hispanic Black, and non-Hispanic American Indian or Alaska Native people also have a disproportionate burden of COVID-19 deaths among specific age groups across the lifespan – children, youth, adults, and older adults.

Again, probably fewer than half would have been employed adults before they got sick and died.

The Delta death rate is very low. Also Democratic demographics such as Black and Hispanics have the lowest vaccination rates. Have you looked to see who has died already of Covid?
