This is indeed what leadership looks like.

(2,221 posts)possibly giving the next "Trump" the excuse to shut down what they will call anti-American media. These people think like a fascist regime does.
With the government not having the belly for a fight like this, at least for now, we can only beat the right at their own game. Instead of being under the withering 24/7/365 beating from RW media we need to fight back. WE need more radio hosts pushing our side every day. WE need popular news networks that call out every single lie that the right puts out. WE need to hammer the truth home constantly over the airwaves.
The RW would have NEVER gotten to this point without their media machine. We need affluent people who value democracy and freedom to start investing in stuff like this because it's going to take a lot of money to get things going.
We either fight fire with fire or hope the GQP agrees to some sort of Fairness Doctrine to include cable, radio and internet news.
I wouldn't hold my breath for that.

(175,759 posts)It was a good day, went to a restaurant (sat outdoors) because my youngest great-nieces aren't allowed to be vaccinated yet. Two of the triplets were there, the third is spending the summer on an internship in Wyoming.

(175,759 posts)I haven't seen them much in the last 1 1/2 years because of COVID. Plus, I fractured my ankle last November, had to have fusion surgery, then spent time in a rehab facility where I caught COVID. Fortunately, it was a mild case and I recovered and was fully vaccinated by the end of February.
It's been a tough year.

(83,973 posts)I am so glad you survived COID and the foot fracture.
You have been missed.
Love you.

(175,759 posts)Had my laptop throughout, which kept me sane. When they told me that I had COVID, I was mostly pissed off and thought I was going to die. But I didn't.
Love you too.

(28,344 posts)Okay, so it was a fast food place, and I wasn't gonna die, but when individuals for one reason or another smeared feces all over the bathroom, I didn't make the staff take care of it. I did it.
I noticed today that Dr. Fauci never loses his patience with legitimate, earnestly asked questions from the public or media. He has less tolerance for Rand Paul. That alone makes him a role model in my opinion.

(83,973 posts)I hate how he has been disrespected. Yet he carries on trying to stop the dying of people that refuse to help themselves.

(42,424 posts)Hubby goes back to work tomorrow for his last year teaching. He is fully vaccinated, of course, but will continue to wear a mask in class. He said there was a staff meeting the other day in the cafeteria and he was one of only about 5 teachers/administrators wearing masks - out of 70.

Stay safe you two.

(4,552 posts)What is stunning is that repuke leadership is getting the vaccine and somehow convincing the masses not to get the shot.
We had better keep voting and controlling the government because the people following repuke leadership are dumb as a bag of rocks.
They refuse to answer when asked if they got vaccinated. Who would follow that stupid lie.
Seat belts
MMR vaccines for public school.
Car insurance.
Can't drink and drive.
Speed limits.
Can't buy a stinger missile. (I want to go wabbit hunting with one)
Zoning
Building codes.
Kitchen inspections
Yet these fools say NO to a shot that may well save them. They say no because their vaccinated leadership tells them not to.
So many stupid people forces me wonder about the future.

(11,572 posts)I still follow that, in as much as possible. I have very, very few chances at leadership, and age is dulling my abilities to the razor's edge of a bowling ball, but I do what I can.
