On a population-adjusted basis, the weekly average of US children admitted to hospitals with Covid-19 is rising faster than any other age group (as of Wednesday)."

In school protocols developed based on alpha/beta contagiousness are not gonna work for Delta.

6. On August 10, Virginia will announce its decision on whether schools will be closed and

virtual for the beginning of this school year. Up until last Friday, school was going to be open and in-person, with masks, for all grades. But I doubt it will stay that way. The Delta variant has scared everybody. I expect they will close schools.

Given everything we know about the Delta variant and long Covid in children, it is immoral to send unvaccinated kids, teachers, and staff into classrooms. The Delta variant dramatically increases the risk of long-term disability or death for everyone, but especially for the 73 million children living in America. We need to adjust our back-to-school plans immediately.

Finally, someone in media is using the word "immoral" to describe this fiasco. More like this, and louder, please.
