What's REALLY disturbing to me is something else here. I spent much of last year tracking the spread and rate of increase, from statistics that were aired every day. And in some cases, those stats were running ALL day. This year all that intensive coverage began to dry up. There were weeks on end where you never saw these graphics at all, during ANY daypart. Almost like "hey, it's over! Everything's all good again! Nothing to see here, folks!"
Today, Monday August 9th, those revolving stats are running continuously - at least through the morning hours so far.

(81,527 posts)Awwwww, alwaysinasnit, thanks for asking - AND for checking in.
We're well. Everybody we know is, too. But then again, with everybody we know (including our kids), the behavior is there right where it should be. It's very much about being careful, and mindful, and wearing masks when not at home.
Hope you and yours are safe, healthy, and doing okay, too!

(5,075 posts)are occasionally getting bad air quality from the fires up north (the Dixie fire). My heart goes out to those folks, but between the heat and the drought here in CA, I expect even more fires to be stirred up. On a more positive note, my daughter gave us some morning glory seeds in the spring and they are going nuts along one fence. A variety of color to brighten up the day.
Stay well and safe my friend.

(7,153 posts)Because:
1. FL only reports once a week
2. So does NE.
3. KS and maybe others report MWF.
4. Some others report MTWThF.
I think maybe everyone took their eyes off the ball as paint appeared to be drying, BUT it's running again.

(7,153 posts)1. A lot of coroners don't appear to report on the weekends.
2. And test events and test-reading also may slack off on the weekends.
Just wait until Wednesdays...

(81,527 posts)It's on whoever is keeping track, and at what frequency. Out here in non-pro land (at least in that respect), I go by the same sets of statistics on MSNBC. I found early-on that CNN's stats are close but not exactly the same. But because I got into the habit of watching and making note of MSNBC's stats, I decided it was best to keep using the same source for consistency's sake. No mix-'n'-match from different sourcing at different hours and dayparts.
