the difference between GOP and DNC

When the GOP triggers the libs, they celebrate it like someone on their team just scored. They give no fucks, no matter how outrageous the stunt is.

When a democrat triggers the GOP, they act like we robbed them of their innocence. They manufacture outrage at every little slight, perceived and real.

And we let them control the narrative by clutching our pearls every time Karen and Kevin are upset.

Listen up: the GOP does not get to control the outrage calendar, and dictate what the rest of the world should be outraged by. Don't fall for it.

I propose we take a page from their very effective playbook. When they are sour, it's a sign we're winning! History bears this out: if they aren't upset, we're NOT DOING IT RIGHT!

More tan suits! More bdays outdoors! More mask mandates! Celebrate covid deathbed conversions! More critical race theory indoctrination! More medicare for all! More black lives matter! More gays!

The optics of not giving a fuck about faux outrage frees us to do the right thing and sometimes the right thing is to say, fuck it.

How can we trigger them tomorrow?

...that pervades every corner of the nation. One can even argue it has so much power it controls the party rather than the other way around.

The DNC has absolutely nothing like that, and mainstream media is so wedded to "both sides" narratives (and lazy force of habit) it almost always bends to the GOP spin.

Back in the day when I used to be a reporter, it was assumed/perceived that the media had a liberal bias.

It wasn't so much a liberal bias as it was a natural bias in favor of skepticism and being contrarian.

Where the hell did it go? And how did it get replaced by bothsiderism?

While EVERY SINGLE bit of information has some form of bias, the methodology which is used to obtain information is important for the process of arriving to the best possible conclusions.

Liberals have typically embraced some form of the scientific method, which is of course, not perfect but which is the best possible method of obtaining and verifying information and making sense from observations.

This is why facts tend to favor a liberal perspective. Life changes and provides us with more and more data each day. Liberals tend to accept the data and move to where valid information takes us.

Conservatives on the other hand, are tethered to an ideology, a belief in how the world works, that cannot and should not be altered.

The media has a bias toward revenue. This is how they have always operated. While reporters tend to be "open" to the facts on the ground, the system of media relies on revenue and the profit motive. Anything that would affect that system is bias against it.

Even science has been skewed by profit. Remember when doctors and health professionals were hawking cigarettes'? There are scientists who are paid to create skepticism about the effects of fossil fuels on climate change. Money and profit are very powerful forces.

This has been going on since the 80s. Entire books have been written about it.

Use those reporter skills and look it up.

When one of our own transgresses the law or the bounds of appropriate social behavior, WE hold that person accountable. We challenge social structures that oppress people, BUT we also hold our leaders to a standard of behavior because IT MEANS SOMETHING to live in a society where everyone has to follow the laws and social customs. It SHOULDN'T matter if you are a homeless person or a wealthy celebrity, we should hold standards of what is okay and not okay. Affiliation should not dictate what is appropriate and inappropriate.

I agree that we should not jump at every outrage that Conservatives come up with. They are plain and simply LIARS. However, that does not mean that we overlook things that we would certainly criticize a Conservative for either.

We can do both and it is not anti-Democratic to point out something that we may disagree with just because a Democrat is doing it.

I think Gavin Newsome has been a really great Governor and I will vote against the recall. It is a scam. However, holding a fundraiser at The French Laundry while everyone is on SIP, was not smart. I also think that President Obama is one of the best modern Presidents...period. When his HUGE 60th birthday bash was announced, I winced. Having that many people around during a surge in cases with a more transmissible variant of COVID-19 does not send a good message, regardless of the idiocy of the right. I said in a post last week, when that idiot Kennedy said that President Obama was responsible for all the COVID-19 spread, "Thank goodness for idiots like Kennedy" His statement was so ridiculous that only the stupidest people would care. Plus President Obama was scaling back to only closest friends and family. Then he had a pretty big party anyway.

I don't care what the right thinks. What they will say NEVER crosses my mind because I know that NONE, NOT ONE, of their arguments is ever in good faith. That doesn't mean that there still are not concerns. I am thinking about the occasional voter, the one who watches Celebrity TV, who won't hear the stupid, fake, Republican outrage, but who will hear that President Obama had a few hundred people over for his birthday, and who will take it as another sign that the pandemic is over. Then they hear that they are going to have to wear masks, or that there will be restrictions at their favorite restaurant, and they will think, "Why can't I do what the Obama's did?" Fuck the conservatives. It isn't about them.
