Don't feel bad about being labeled a "socialist"

Fu*k the right and their attempts to vilify the word.

Things like public schools and libraries, buses, Amtrak, the military, police and firemen, airports, etc. Sometimes they actually “get it”

I have a good idea where my friend listens to the media. It usually does not take long, either, maybe only after a minute or two after the chat has begun.
======
Yesterday, it happened again. My friend began to talk about all the European athletes who immigrate to the US to avoid that taxes in their home countries. He could name a thousand athletes who have done that.

I replied, I could name 39 corporations in the US who have not paid a dollar in taxes over the past 5 years.

He: But all those corporations provide millions of jobs and those employees pay taxes.

Me: So are you saying those corporations are non-profits?

He: of course not! They are in business to make money.

Me: So, after they have paid all their employees, what's leftover is profit. Right? And that should be taxed just like the employees wages should be taxed.

What they call "socialism" includes the US during WW2 and the Cold War.

What I really don't understand is why some people feel the desire to make socialism acceptable.
