Cardinal Burke, vax skeptic, has covid, is on ventilator

https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/cardinal-burke-has-covid-is-on-ventilator/article_28639900-9c76-5481-b7ad-62266e605d0b.html

"Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, archbishop emeritus of St. Louis, is ill with COVID-19 and has been placed on a ventilator, according to a Saturday night tweet from his Twitter account.

“Doctors are encouraged by his progress. (His Eminence) faithfully prayed the Rosary for those suffering from the virus. On this Vigil of the Assumption, let us now pray the Rosary for him,” the tweet said.
...

Burke, 73, was Archbishop of St. Louis from 2003 to 2008. He went to the Vatican to become a member of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, the highest judicial authority in the Catholic Church, aside from the Pope. He is currently Cardinal Priest of Sant’Agata de’ Goti in Rome.
...
According to the National Catholic Reporter, Burke “has expressed skepticism about the need for distancing measures to contain the coronavirus and has opposed mandatory vaccination schemes.”
In a homily given last December, Burke called COVID the “Wuhan virus,” and said, “It has been used by certain forces inimical to families and to the freedom of nations, to advance their evil agenda.”

According to LifeSiteNews.Com, Burke in a May 2020 address to the Rome Life Forum said vaccinations should not be forced "in a totalitarian manner" on people.
Burke, the website said, also said "there is a certain movement to insist that now everyone must be vaccinated against the coronavirus COVID-19 and even that a kind of microchip needs to be placed under the skin of every person, so that any moment he or she can be controlled by the State regarding health and about other matters which we can only imagine."...(more)

Even kick aside religious training. As we see.

This guy couldn’t have become a cardinal if he was technically stupid, but his personality makes him very stupid, submerging his intellect and morality and denyimg truth whenever they interfere with what he wants to believe.

We see it all the time as people of real intellectual attainments in other fields seemingly become dumb as a bag of rocks and indifferent to facts when indulging their worst on public issues, spouting the same hostility-driven factionalism as a bunch of low achievement buffoons over their third beers.

the people are warned not to eat the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (lest they die) -- but they get confused, and say they have been told not to eat from the tree in the middle of the Garden. In their confusion, then, they eat the forbidden fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, hoping to obtain Life, and they are driven away from the Garden: one rabbinical commentary asserts that they were driven away to prevent them from destroying the Tree of Life

There are many varieties of "knowledge." Not all varieties help us live well.

28. Nearer, My God, to Thee
Sun Aug 15, 2021, 07:55 AM
Aug 2021

"Sometime around 2.10 a.m. as the Titanic began settling more quickly into the icy North Altantic, the sounds of ragtime, familiar dance tunes and popular waltzes that had floated reassuringly across her decks suddenly stopped as Bandmaster Wallace Hartley tapped his bow against his violin. Hartley and his musicians, all wearing their lifebelts now, were standing back at the base of the second funnel, on the roof of the First Class Lounge, where they had been playing for the better part of an hour. There were a few moments of silence, then the solemn strains of the hymn "Nearer My God to Thee" began drifting across the water. It was with a perhaps unintended irony that Hartley chose a hymn that pleaded for the mercy of the Almighty, as the ultimate material conceit of the Edwardian Age, the ship that "God Himself couldn't sink," foundered beneath his feet. As the band played, the slant of the deck grew steeper, while from within the hull came a rapidly increasing number of thuds, bangs and crashes as interior furnishings broke loose, walls and partitions collapsed--the Titanic was only moments from breaking apart."

It was midnight on the sea,
Band playin' "Nearer My God to Thee"
Cryin', "Fare thee, Titanic, fare the well, "

Titanic when it got its load,
Captail hollered, "All aboard, "
Cryin', "Fare thee, Titanic, fare the well, "

Jack Johnson want to get on board,
Captain said, "I ain't hauling no coal, "
Cryin', "Fare thee, Titanic, fare the well, "

Titanic was comin 'round the curve,
When she ran in to a big iceberg,
Cryin', "Fare thee, Titanic, fare the well, "

Titanic was sinkin' down,
Had lifeboats all around
Cryin', "Fare thee, Titanic, fare the well, "

Had them lifeboats all around,
Savin the women and children, lettin' men go down,
Cryin', "Fare thee, Titanic, fare the well, "

Jack Johnson heard the mighty shock
Mighta seen him doin' the Eagle Rock
Cryin', "Fare thee, Titanic, fare the well, "

When the women and children got to land,
Crying "Lord have mercy on my man, "
Cryin', "Fare thee, Titanic, fare the well, "
