Man Stabbed, 2 Reporters Attacked As Violence Erupts At Los Angeles Anti-Vaxx Rally

A man was stabbed and at least two journalists attacked Saturday as vicious fighting erupted between anti-vaxx protesters, many of them Proud Boys in American flag and Donald Trump MAGA garb, and counterprotesters outside Los Angeles City Hall.

Police didn’t immediately have information about the stabbing victim, who was treated on the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. They reported no arrests by late afternoon, but an investigation was continuing.

Frank Stolze, a reporter for the National Public Radio station KPCC, was screamed at, then shoved and viciously kicked by anti-mask protesters while he was trying to conduct an interview, The Los Angeles Times reported. He filed a police complaint, the LAPD confirmed.

He later tweeted that he was “mad, but fine,” and noted that he had never experienced anything like that in his 30 years as a reporter.

Journalist Tina-Desiree Berg was also photographed being attacked, and she posted a tweet of being rushed by a group of Proud Boys. It wasn’t immediately clear if she filed a police report. ............(more)

8. I would say, "Let those anti-vaxxers die," except their stupidity affects those of around them.

I had been worried about an unvaccinated person infecting their spouse and children, as well as their elderly parents. Now it seems that their arrogance has morphed into insane violence. Eventually someone is going to die at the hand of these yahoos.

Putin must be gleeful as he watches our country fall apart. First, the puppet con-man he put into power is well on his way to destroying democracy state-by-state as the Repugs pass anti-democratic voter suppression laws in service to The Big Lie. And there was, of course, the vicious attack on the physical and symbolic heart of our democracy that TFG incited.

Secondly, Putin is using COVID as a biological weapon. With only a few posts in social media he was able to give rise to a whole plethora of conspiracy theories, each more outlandish than the prior one, and each believed by millions of people. Stephen Colbert put it this way: "There are two groups of people: the vaccinated, and Republicans."

I don't see any end to it in the near future. There are anti-vaxxers in hospitals staying alive only due to the heroic -- and costly -- efforts of others who still insist that COVID is a hoax. I thought when Dubya was president the divisions in our country -- especially in families, which were literally ripped apart -- couldn't get any worse. It's worse. As much as I despised and hated Bush II and his policies -- especially the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan -- I never questioned his loyalty to the country and democracy, and his respect for the office of the president. Omigod! I just said something nice about GWB!

I wonder if anyone will do a study of the correlation between those who believe The Big Lie, those who are virulently anti-vaccine, and Republicans.
