because no matter what the parameters were, the one certainty was that the Taliban would do whatever they felt like anyway, all just so he could get a news cycle where the headlines gave him credit for ending the war in Afghanistan. The Taliban knew it, the former guy new it, everyone in Congress and the State Dept and the Pentagon knew it, everyone at home watching cable news knew it. We all knew it. There was no duping going on.
