(89,249 posts)people have said things like the govt is corrupt or they aren't getting paid.
But at this point right now it's about saving the women and girls from the taliban . Work on the other stuff aftewards.
And this is why we have to realize it's not just the taliban but the anti woman view is shared by more people there.
I bet among the men that oppose the Taliban for most of them there the issue of women's treatment isn't even one of the reasons they oppose them.

(1,261 posts)A man might pass unnoticed for a time while a woman would draw more immediate attention and likely hostility. I understand its something of gauntlet to run to make to the airport so being an attention draw is big disadvantage.
For that matter, they may more focused on keeping women than men for forced 'marriage' among other things.

Women are now commodities to be bought and sold. Or killed if not compliant.

Damn! Where did that dream come from? I did watch The day the Earth stood still maybe that movie had something to do with it.
So depressed when I awakened and it was nothing but dreams teasing me.

(6,277 posts)Besides... men there don't care about the women. I think a lot of men there are happy to see the Talaband come back so they can pp'put women in their place'.

(57,081 posts)It was so packed by panicking soldiers, they were knocking them off the back stairs and had damaged them badly enough that it couldn't be closed. They barely made it off the ground to get to Saigon.
They were also shot up by soldiers who couldn't get on the plane.
When they landed, there were around 600 on the plane, stuffing the luggage compartments, the landing gear compartments. and 3 of those were two women and one child.
The soldiers were arrested by the ARVN MPs.
It will get ugly and uglier. This whole ball of shit is all GOP's own making, and it went on and on when it should have never happened.
Thank the Almighty, Joe Biden gotten us out of it finally.

(63,221 posts)They clearly do not care about their women or children and therefore are doomed to always be a miserable, hellish, third-world country. It's just unfortunate that the women and children cant escape.
They are barbaric and they do not see the value in nurturing the elements of their society which will elevate it and carry it into the future. They are like our MAGATs who just want to regress and drag the entire nation down with them. We need to get the women and children out and let them have their male paradise. They can all just fuck each other.

As for running along beside a taxiing aircraft, I trust women have better sense.
