The American people want an end to endless wars. President Biden was 100% right when he said he wouldn't pass this quagmire to a FIFTH US POTUS.
Support for withdrawal is nearly universal except for Liz Cheney and Bill Kristol-types.
The problem today is the planning, logistics and strategy dealing with the unexpected speed of the collapse of Kabul and the ANA.
I'm hoping Joe will be handing out pink slips to the ass clowns who fucked up here...

(13,598 posts)Mara Liasson made the same observation on NPR yesterday morning. She said that, while reaction "in the elite class" is scathing, the rest of the country doesn't care about Afghanistan and hasn't for a very long time. If 20 years of "training" the Afghan army at enormous expense isn't enough for them to even fire a shot in defense of the government, nothing is. But, hey! At least Ghani made it out safely with his planeload of US taxpayer cash, and that's all that matters!!1!
Ghani, whose current whereabouts are unknown, said he left Afghanistan on Sunday as the Taliban entered Kabul virtually unopposed. He said he wanted to avoid bloodshed.
That last line should read, "he wanted to avoid his own bloodshed and losing all that US taxpayer cash."
