I think people are underestimating the possibility that the Taliban are actually keen on looking like 'good guys' here, so they'll be recognized as legitimate by the rest of the World, not like a bunch of savages.

Not saying that WILL happen, but people seem 100% convinced they're not concerned whatsoever about their reputation. I'd guess they are, myself.
