or anyone outside the uber right.. they always (wait for it, the most hated terminology around) hold Liberals and Democrats "feet to the fire"
This is not saying they do not go after the uber right like Trump.. but it is momentarily.. they will denounce something they do, and then the next day its all.. "well that is just the way it is with them"
But with any Democrat or Liberal.. it is a non stop feeding frenzy day after day if they can find something to chew on.
Why you may ask.. damned if I know..maybe deep in their little hearts they actually feel more comfortable with the uber right.. I have never understood it

(182,630 posts)They have flogged the blue horse but it still wont get up or is just milling around. They have to take down Biden* because when that Infrastructure bill and budget go through he will have way too much to really hurt. Yes we are a ways away from the next POTUS election but aside from some huge domestic tragedy his legacy is already set.
* there was a better way to do this Afghan mess.

Of course we didnt nab and execute the chief engineer of the most deadly act of terrorism in American history because Cheney/Bush wanted to go somewhere where they could make lots and lots of money.
And that, of course, was Iraq. A country as responsible for 9/11 as Canada was for December 7. Country that, as Cheney and Bush were aware, had neither weapons of mass destruction, a budding nuclear program, nor any connection whatsoever with al Qaeda or 9/11 but was ripe for rape by Halliburton and other big grubby corrupt contractors who got rich while the military destroyed the government and ruined the country.
Needless to say, the riches did not flow from the country we ruined -- it flowed from you and me and every taxpayer.
What Im saying is, the TV mouths shouldnt say one word criticizing Joe Biden without starting out condemning the carnage and graft perpetrated by the Cheney/Bush Administration and a including a full analysis of what The Mir-a-Lago Pantload left his successor, Joe Biden, to deal with.

(7,404 posts)They had plenty of drama to sell during the previous administration, then COVID has filled the gap but people are really bored with that at this point. This is the next logical step, start attacking the current administration and frustrating them, the love affair seems to be over. Once this subsides they have the border "crisis" in their back pocket, an inevitable "botched" major hurricane response, they probably already have the stuff written, just need to fill in the date and a few names.
All that aside, this withdrawal has turned into a cluster, the planners severely underestimated the Taliban advance and overestimated the Afghan will to hold them back. The images of people falling off the outside of a USAF plane have defined the entire thing in the public's mind, they just need to mop up the best they can and get out of there so it fades away to something else.

(22,872 posts)no matter when it would happen and how.. it would have been an unholy mess.. Because Afghanistan is the bottomless pit that other countries fall into.. always has been..
Example... say we took everyone out of the embassy before we started removing our military.. it would have been.. "America is leaving and no embassy behind.. they have no faith in the Afghanistan government" and the Taliban would have swooped in anyway..
Biden gave them a chance to stand up for themselves.. they had to dig in and fight.. but for whatever reason, they never had it in them in the first place.
Never.
and unlike places like Japan and Germany that we were at war with and are still there.. it is because we are not in at a war.. we are allies.. the only way we would ever be an ally with Afghanistan was when they fought for themselves.. sad but true
I give Biden all the credit in the world.. he said it.. the buck stops with him..

(5,443 posts)Any event, the more drama that can be extracted the more over the top the MSM gets. The Afghanistan coverage is reminiscent of the coverage of the Fall of the Shah and the takeover of the American Embassy in Tehran in 1979, which made the career of many journalists, for example Ted Koppel and his America Held Hostage show every night. It also doomed Jimmy Carter and helped bring us Reagan.

(12,640 posts)If it's a good day, and all there is to report are sports, weather, and the latest pet adoption fair, with maybe a human interest price on a local patron or do-gooder, it's just so boooorrring.
No one is going to tune in .
Even national news needs to have something zingy or that "needs to be fixed" to get people excited. Baby Jessica in a well won't cut it anymore.
As for Cable "news and analysis" - the talking heads need something to talk "seriously" about.
Conflict sells. Positive stories don't.

(70,447 posts)Unending stories about her emails and her email server which were not true and were being pushed by Russia, Fox, and the GOP but almost nothing about Trump and the mafia/Russian mob. When the Times had to do a retraction of their Hillary email stories they did it inside the paper even though they had run front page hit pieces on Hillary and her emails something like 50 times.

(70,447 posts)... if HRC was the President. President Obama had left the protocols, personal, materials, and the
US governmental agencies and connection with international health agencies in place that would
have stopped or greatly mitigated the virus before it became a world wide pandemic.
I will die mad at what happened to HRC and how we let the Russians, the GOP, and big time
right wing money and power flip the election to Trump.
