Wife and I put them in the mail yesterday. There wasn't much of a strong inclination to vote for any replacement, as Newsom was clearly the best candidate on the ballot. That being said, I wrote in my first choice in the primaries, Antonio Villaragosa, after I voted "no"for the recall. Anybody else turn in their ballot yet?

(8,678 posts)I keep reading that the Repubs are more motivated to show up. If its mail in who needs to show up?

(8,678 posts)I find that hard to believe in such an important election.

(8,291 posts)Of my mind until somebody strongly encouraged me to turn it in. Unfortunately, the GOP has an advantage on door knockers, etc who can motivate even the ones who didn't get around to turning in their ballots before the election.

It just seems to me that most Republicans vote, because it's what's done; Democrats are more likely to need to be motivated, amused, inspired, and need nice weather.
Get out and vote. Or sit at home in your robe and fuzzy slippers, and vote. Just vote.

(5,111 posts)Not that its incorrect or invalidating, but strategically Newsome is discouraging people from selecting anyone. Youre just supposed to vote No.Not really sure wat the rationale is for that but thats wat Ill do.

(8,291 posts)If he's your only choice, then why vote for anybody else? In a way that makes a lot of sense. But in the happenstance that the recall succeeds, I want there to be a chance that my preferred candidate wins.

(8,291 posts)It really is absurd that he can get close to a majority of the vote and somebody who gets a small plurality could still win.
