(6,979 posts)CNN ratings are dramatically down since Trump left office. The network lost nearly 50% of its target audience during primetime hours.
CNN has seen ratings plummet since former President Donald Trump left the White House, according to a Fox News report on Nielsen Media Research data.
The network averaged 2.5 million primetime viewers between the day after the election November 4, 2020 and Inauguration Day on January 20, 2021, Fox News reported.
Since President Joe Biden was sworn in, however, those numbers have dropped dramatically. An average of 1.6 million viewers tuned in during primetime hours between January 21 and March 15, Fox News said. That's a downturn of 36% since Biden took office.
Primetime viewers also ditched CNN in the period between December 28 through to January 20. The network hemorrhaged almost half (49%) of its primetime viewers, Fox News reported. An average of 3.1 million primetime fell to just 1.6 million, the media outlet said.
The primetime numbers are abysmal among CNN's key audience. The network's target age group is those aged 25 to 54, according to MIT Media Lab. CNN has seen a 47% drop in viewership in that demographic during Biden's inauguration and March 15, Fox News said.

They have to have some raw meat to draw viewers and to get those lost ad dollars back.
When fatass45 was in power, people stayed watching the hideous antics of that lying, ignorant, racist, grifting, sexually-assaulting, dumb-ass fat circus clown, who tried to steal an election and when that didn't happen, he sent his racist secessionists US Taliban Fighters down to the Capital to fuck the place up in his honor.
His US Taliban complied and gave CNN monster ratings I'm sure which they were happy about.

(38,958 posts)Leave it off and never turn 24/7 Breaking Noise Cable Infotainment Drama TV on again. Their only purpose is to fill airtime between ads for drugs we never knew we needed.
You will be better informed and have more stable blood pressure.
I suggest the same for Twitter as well.

I haven't seen much coverage of TFG's deal with the Taliban or his statements that a booster vaccine is not necessary, that it's all about big pharma's profits. Many people will DIE because hey choose to believe him, but apparently that is not a scandal worthy of coverage.
It is infuriating.

(21,487 posts)I have been saying this for years. It's about pushing the right wing narrative and not airing liberal narratives. Sure it's about making money but it's also about carrying water for the right wing narrative.
I never get tired of posting this example; Fox News claims that president Obama beats his wife, CNN says it needs more information and MSNBC says no he doesn't. My point, all 3 are still talking about president Obama beating his wife.
When a truly progressive, or even just a truth teller gets a spot on CNN or MSNBC, he/she is quickly fired. Everyone points to Keith Olbermann but I never failed to watch Dylan Ratigan. Ratigan was no liberal but a truth teller. He exposed corporate America, he was passionate in pushing his views, he was pushed out.
I go on Sirius every so often to get a fix. I laugh about how even the left bashes Thom Hartmann, but he is another truth teller.
I also thank God/Allah/Buddha for DU.

(82,849 posts)Really? Was there something not quite right about the Trump administration, CNN? Because I remember your coverage of Trump always seemed to have the soft-focus glow of a living saint walking among us. Are you able to tell us now what might be wrong with "being Trump"?
