The issue is that these actors, producers, and so on were playing a part, as they always do. The right wing then watched as these same people took the money that they made from acting for these wingers and put it into things that were the opposite of what the wingers wanted. The right wing has it's position in Hollywood, but it is not the power position they were hoping for. Turns out that even a group of people as money hungry as the entertainment industry will still be themselves once the cameras were off (which is a major difference between the two groups, as far as I am concerned. Most rethugs would sell out their own mothers if the price was right). I also feel that the main reason these people love the internet is because of the anonymity of it. You really don't see any of those rabid posters willing to fess up to their online personas once someone comes knocking. So much for their convictions, eh?

They aren’t just going to disappear. They are our neighbors and unfortunately our elected representatives. There is no rational discussion to be had with them about most topics—they would probably somehow turn a discussion of the rain into blame for Biden and liberals.

Where I fault the media today is that people are allowed to have grievances and to have them aired 24/7. Those of us who have had to delay our own healthcare because the hospitals are once again full of unnecessary Covid patients have grievances too. I know of three friends who delayed going to the doctor because of Covid and before we had vaccines, and all three of them have been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer of different types. And what about the children with cancer who need to be in the hospital but now have to share a ward with highly infectious Covid patients.

And what about our grievances about a minority of these people who want to deny us our right to make personal decisions about our bodies and our reproductive rights? They have the right not to get vaccinated or wear masks and cause illness saying it’s their choice, but they think we have no equivalent right to make our own choices. And on and on.

We all have lots of grievances, and thank heaven for DU that lets us air them, but I feel totally frustrated that we have so many people who are so selfish that they don’t care how many people they help kill by deliberately spreading a virus and choose to believe fairy tales and conspiracies rather than facts and science. I’m ready to support a movement to split into two countries. I don’t see the red half ever being reasonable again. Yes, I know, it’s an impossibility, but let me dream for a bit about what it would be like to have fellow citizens who actually care about democracy and real freedom instead of their fake freedoms.
