A full week before collapse of Kabul the U.S. embassy asked U.S. citizens to leave immediately. I remember the announcement. I heard it here so I know they heard it there.
They were even to be reimbursed for travel expenses. Now we have up to 10 thousand still there? Either we have a lot of folks that aren't even in Kabul and trapped in other cities or a lot of folks didn't respond to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY and have put a lot of our troops at risk. I feel for these folks and hope for their safe extrication. I know everyones situation is different and am interested to hear some individual stories. But 10k still there?
also this memo proves that Biden's state dept. was a full week ahead of this.
The U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens to leave Afghanistan immediately using available commercial flight options. Given the security conditions and reduced staffing, the Embassys ability to assist U.S. citizens in Afghanistan is extremely limited even within Kabul.

we need to hear some individual stories but anyone that's been in a foreign country where things are dangerous you get somewhere near the embassy. And if you get an alert like that you locate near the embassy until you can get out so if shit hits the fans you get into the embassy.
