“The cable, sent via the State Department’s confidential dissent channel, warned of rapid territorial gains by the Taliban and the subsequent collapse of Afghan security forces, and offered recommendations on ways to mitigate the crisis and speed up an evacuation.”

Hence the August 7th state department declaration that all U.S. citizens must evacuate. U.S. citizens were given a full week to get out.
I'm still dumbfounded at how we can still have 10K plus U.S. citizens there.

The warning was about it collapsing AFTER Aug 31st not before. CNN can go to hell.

I mean I don't even like it when it makes the other side look bad, but it REALLY bugs me when it's my people.

on a memo that some read as saying it wouldn’t happen until after August 31.

You’d think at least one person would have asked, “What if it happens 2 weeks earlier?” And it darn sure should have been asked when Taliban started taking over regions.
