Three senators announced within hours of each other on Thursday that they had tested positive for the coronavirus, despite each being fully vaccinated.
Sens. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Angus King (I-Maine) and John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) said they had tested positive in what is known as a breakthrough case, when fully vaccinated individuals test positive for COVID-19. It marks three known breakthrough cases among senators within 24 hours.
The positive tests come as senators have been back in their home states for roughly a week and aren't expected to return to Washington, D.C., until mid-September.
Their announcements Thursday bring the total number of known COVID-19 breakthrough cases among senators to four. Graham became the first earlier this month when he announced that he had tested positive despite being fully vaccinated.

(34,102 posts)BUT the claims, based on early data, collected with mitigation measures in place, largely before Delta, that less than .01% of people who are vaccinated will have breakthough claims is being shown as the ricidulous assertion it always was

Senators must be extra vulnerable.

(7,447 posts)1. vaccines work well at keeping you out of the hospital. Don't expect to see any of these guys hospitalized.
2. vaccines aren't working as well at keeping out Delta or keeping you from spreading it to others. So keep your masks on to protect you, others, and the vulnerable.
If everyone gets vaccinated, we wouldn't need masks, and if everyone wore masks, the spread would fall off to nothing.
Shame some folks can't pick EITHER option when they need to do both.
