General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWarning! Another Jeopardy thread! Just heard
on my local ABC station (which I am watching to avoid ignorant Biden bashing on cable), that Mike Richards filmed his first episode yesterday before he resigned. According to this story, Ken Jennings was in the studio audience. Mike Richards had him escorted out because Ken was making him nervous. How petty.
I wonder if this is some kind of effort by the powers to be to stir up drama and increase ratings. The whole contest to pick a host may be part of it. After all, how many of the contestants were really interested in the position? Many of them have much more lucrative full-time gigs already.
For those of you who are not interested, feel free to trash this thread. Personally, I just ignore all threads that don't interest me. Not a problem. With BS being peddled on some platforms, some of us need a little light relief these days. Pretty harmless, I'd say.

(42,757 posts)I'd much rather prefer Ken Jennings to host the show.

(102,263 posts)Do you think they've not fantasized about doing so?
Rather unseemly, but it is being done with other long-deceased performers.

(5,122 posts)If you're right, I must admit, it's brilliant marketing. The media coverage they've had is worth millions.

(36,108 posts)I have to wonder if audiences watched it more for the Trebeck guy than the actual competition. I mean it sounds like they're desperate for the "right" host, but if the show has viewers just on content, anyone could host it.

(17,028 posts)The contestants and the game are the real stars, so I think the whole "searching for the host" thing is part of a publicity bid.

There have been rumors since last week about his disgusting treatment of co-workers and the racism and anti-Semitic comments went public.
I read another thread here earlier which said that Colbert dropped a big hint last night about the new Jeopardy host's job being in Jeopardy

(10,885 posts)so probably had every right to be there. Sounds like Richards was pulling rank on him. I'm glad Richards is gone. He was a poor choice from the outset. I'm still pulling for Buzzy Cohen, but doubt it will come to be.

Hah - and this certitude from somebody who doesn't "care about it all"!1
*******But much wisdom from the O.P., "I just ignore all threads that don't interest me" - me, too, and it is *so* irritating for posters to jump in just to say how much contempt they have for the topic or the author, especially when they do it in the very first ("keynote" ) Reply that ruins the whole thread and throws it Off Topic. I seem to be a MAGNET in attracting those. Too often I've been compelled to answer along the lines of "Just SKIP past threads you don't like" or "No constructive contribution to this thread" or "Thousands of other threads to go to" or "Please put me on Ignore."
So, O.P., I managed to stay On Topic in the first part here, just went off to agree with your second part!
