Tropical Storm Henri

Last edited Sun Aug 22, 2021, 07:33 AM - Edit history (2)

Power companies warn of widespread outages, high tide and full moon and storm surge up to 5ft mean coastal flooding, heavy rain could cause floods well inland, storm will stall and dump rain for 24 hrs.

Ok, not really, but when a turn hurricanes commonly take effectively answered his prayers that it not hit Virginia Beach, it went to LI, and I was in the eye.

Some flooding along the south shore, a lot of shallow-rooted trees knocked over, and IIRC, two dead.

Braxton-Hicks contractions because of the barometric pressure. I was stuck in a hotel in Philadelphia, even though we lived in New Jersey at the time. My mom was in surgery during the hurricane at Memorial Sloan Kettering. I won't ever forget that day.

and our saving grace was usually, but not always, that Long Island got the brunt of a hurricane's force and was somewhat weakened by the time it got to us.

You always hate it when they predict a storm slowing down and making a hard turn, just adds to the uncertainty, stay safe.
