Just got a recorded call from the mayor. He said to stay off the roads from 8AM Sunday to 8AM Monday. Heavy winds Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. Heavy rain Sunday. They expect 40 percent of the utility customers to lose power for days
Sounds like I have a decent chance of being knocked off DU for awhile. I guess losing power will be the biggie unless you're quite near the shore.

(16,201 posts)Hopefully the VRAD stays up on battery enough to give me hours of internet. I can run the modem/router for most of a day off it's backup pack alone.

(11,887 posts)My county is under a state of emergency and I spent all day preparing for loss of power. Getting generator prepped. Preparing food that can be eaten cold. Just filled the bathtub for flushes. I guess Im as ready as I can be. Stay safe out there peeps.
I was out for ten days after Sandy. Hope this is not as bad, but not my first rodeo.

(2,013 posts)because my dad was told he would die if he caught pneumonia again. He had cirrhosis of the liver. He was 38 at the time. Died at 42. I'm 42 now. And not the point of this post.
I remember as a LITTLE child our family preparing for Hurricane Gloria. We taped big X's over all of our apartment windows with duct tape (to prevent a lot of fallen glass in the apartment in the case of high winds) and filled the bathtub with drinkable water. The song "Gloria" played over and over again on local radio in between updates.
Thoughts with all in CT right now. That's all (just a little nostalgic and high, thus the post).
