Nurse Haley Mulkey Richardson, 32, was registered at the labor and delivery unit at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, according to Alabama.com.
Richardson, who lived in Theodore with her husband Jordan and young daughter Katie, contracted COVID-19 some three weeks before she died, in late July or early August, a friendJason Whatleytold the outlet.
The mother-of-one was not vaccinated against the virus as she was afraid of suffering potentially life-threatening anaphylactic reactions and after she heard unfounded claims the jab could affect fertility.

(4,552 posts)She most likely had to have gotten her series of Hepatitis shots, along with keeping current on DTAP, flu, etc.
WTH is wrong with the medical community not wanting to get the COVID vaccine?
Just one more thing going on in this country that no longer makes any sense. And its making me crazy.
And sad.
And scared.

(33,140 posts)Of her published concerns... As a Nurse she should have been well aware there are very few reported anaphylactic events with these vaccines. Also, the vaccine administering sites are all well equipped to deal with anything of that nature. I take that as a throwaway.
The fertility 'concern' does bother me, though. This seems to be pushed by the male dominated American Taliban who only value women for their reproductive capacity and nothing else. These young women are well aware of this and also being cast aside in a Handmaiden's Tale manner should they be rendered infertile by accident or illness.

It's a completely baseless speculation, there is no evidence for anything like this actually happening.

I understand why a year ago they were waiting on more info. Plus the original variant didn't seem to attack pregnant women the way the delta is now.
