CNN tries to track down corporate HQ of Arizona 'auditors' Cyber Ninjas and it doesn't go wellOn CNN Monday, reporter Kyung Lah revealed what happened when she attempted to track down the corporate headquarters of "Cyber Ninjas," the mysterious pro-Trump cybersecurity firm hired by the GOP-controlled Arizona Senate to conduct a controversial "audit" of ballots in Maricopa County.
Lah ultimately did not find a great deal of substance behind the company, other than its founder, Doug Logan.
What she found was a rented mailbox inside a UPS store that had been described as a fourth-floor suite in an office building.

(1,988 posts)That they are a business that only really exists in the form of corporate documents, no, that is not uncommon and not fraud. It just proves what most know already, and that is CN isn't a legitimate company.

(279 posts)Many corporations are operated out of someone's home, but the only publicly available address is a mailbox. That seems to be the case here. As I noted in my comment 6 below, there may a lot to criticize Cyber Ninjas for, but there's no indication that there is anything amiss about their corporate form.

(1,109 posts)Perhaps that UV light should be shown brightly upon the (not-so-bright) GOP-controlled Arizona Senate (of Maricopa County) who hired that mysterious and unknown pro-45 we'll-perform-a-fake-audit-for-big-bucks firm in the first place.

(1,988 posts)The Laws of The State of Arizona allowed a political majority in The Senate to pass a bill to allow a private company with no experience in what they were appointing/hiring them to do to be appointed/hired. The other Republicans and the Democrats in totality have been screaming about this all year. Its the first thing pointed to by Maricopa officials(that they don't even have experience in election "audits" . Unfortunately, federalism and everything allows Arizona to operate like this.

(279 posts)There may be a lot to criticize Cyber Ninjas for, and there may (or may not) be illegalities associated with its conduct of the so-called "audit." But, there is nothing illegal in anything reported in this story. There is no requirement that a corporation have brick-and-mortar headquarters; there is no requirement that a corporation even have a phone number, much less that phone calls be answered or voice messages returned. In fact, it's fairly common for small corporations to have no more than a private mailbox address. By itself, that does no indicate fraud or anything illegal. I checked the Florida corporations website--Cyber Ninjas has a registered agent and has filed all its annual reports on time; that's all that's required by the law. The same can be said of many, many small corporations.
