maskless in the eyes and pointed to to my mask on my face, every one of them looked away and said nothing
so I tried another tactic and loudly thanked the checker for wearing a mask, she responded thank you, and I repeated this a few more times only when I was near a masked person who was close to a maskless covidiot, customer or employee...and the maskless looked away, no one challenged me...So please, be kind and thank those wearing masks around you for caring about their fellow human beings
Fuck the maskless, every county here is rated "High Infection"

(6,561 posts)Had a minor confrontation at the entrance with a mother or two young children who was maskless. She was all self-righteous, and told me she was vaxxed, then went in to the store in a huff. Most of the people in the store were masked ... all employees and most of the patrons, and you can guess the demographics of those that weren't masked. However, some time later I saw her in there, and she had put on a mask. So, whether it was shat I said, or just feeling foolish, or whatever, she chose to do the right thing.

(1,096 posts)haven't put up the 'masks required' signs again. The employees are wearing masks, but the customers - not so much.

(34,086 posts)which is lame.
i know kids (6, 8, 10 yrs old) who have had covid--and i'm guessing parents feel their kids can't get it again which is why they don't wear masks when most kids are wearing them. also because they are just "recommended"

(1,096 posts)With the Delta variant I think we should be well beyond the 'recommended' stage.

(51,646 posts)a "look" without intentionally doing so. I found myself staring at a woman who was maskless when almost 90% at the supermarket were masked. My look was of my eyeballs popping out of their sockets, like I just saw a ghost. I guess it could be interpreted to mean surprise, fear, terror, etc. I know she noticed since when we crossed paths again a few minutes later and she got the same look from me and she put her head down. She should be ashamed.

(5,481 posts)100% masked - didn't see a single customer or employee that was not wearing a mask (properly - no chin masks!).
This was a Costco Business Center, and not one of the regular consumer Costcos.
Stopped at a supermarket on the way home to pick up a few things that we didn't want to buy in bulk, and also saw 100% mask compliance.
(The Seattle area is pretty good about thinking about how our actions affect others.)

(25,919 posts)I went into a store today and there was a sign that said Everyone Must Wear a Mask. What I like about this state, or at least my part of this state, is that people have been very compliant about masks.
I'm fully vaccinated, and earlier this year I wasn't wearing a mask, lucky me. Then I had major oral surgery, got dentures, and honestly did not want to display my problematical mouth and teeth to the outside world, so I went back to wearing a mask. Honestly, I'm somewhat grateful for the pandemic that I can do this. Of course, any protection from Covid is a bonus.
I am still back to my WWII analogy. For those of you who haven't already seen it, it goes like this: Pretend it is 1939 and you and I are planning a trip to Europe next year. We've been saving money, working extra jobs, researching where we want to go and we are really looking forward to it. We'll go to England and Spain and France and maybe a few other countries. All the details have not been worked out, but it's going to be a great trip!
And then, September rolls around. Germany invades Poland and a new war breaks out. Oh, crap. Clearly we won't be going to Europe next year, but we're optimistic, hope this silly war won't last long and we can make the trip the following year. Only, it's not a silly war and it goes on and on. For years. It doesn't finally end in Europe until May, 1945. The soonest we might possibly make our long-postponed trip will be 1946, maybe a year or two later. And when we finally get there, the Europe we will see will be vastly different from the one we thought we'd see back in 1939. And so it will be with Covid. Things are going to last longer and change more than we initially thought. I'm not about to make predictions, other than in generalities: Work will change. Schools will change. Travel will change.
I'm someone who loves to travel. I was on a cruise to Hawaii March 1-19 in 2020. On that trip the stories of Covid kept mounting. We felt very safe on board. For one thing, it was Holland America, which has relatively smaller ships, and during the voyage we could see them ramping up cleaning. But we were pretty much the last ship to go to Hawaii for a while, and when we got back to San Diego, the ship did not make its next trip, which would have been back to Hawaii.
I'm also a science fiction person, and attend several science fiction things most years. The last one I went to was in October, 2019. I am hoping to attend that one, Mile Hi Con in Denver this coming October. I've signed up, paid the con fee and booked the hotel. However, if we get closer to it and I don't feel good about attending, I won't. It's okay if I lose money. Not a problem.

(989 posts)While I was pushing my cart down an aisle, an unmasked middle-school-aged kid on a scooter coughed just before I passed him and then sat himself on the floor and coughed again.
I'm a bit worried, as cases have slowly been rising in Las Vegas

(54,462 posts)Everyone I saw was masked. Apparently, on Tuesdays and Thursday at this particular store, they have a "senior hour" between 9 Am and 10 AM. I don't know if this is a company policy or just for some stores, or just for this store, but it was not jammed, and so anyone without a mask would have stood out like a sore thumb. No sore thumbs here!

(1,167 posts)In AZ, about 5-10% of people are wearing masks at any given time.
One of the Costcos around here recently took down the plexiglass shields at the checkouts.
It's a very backward state.

(1,910 posts)Pointing to a mask seems innocent but these people are enraged and could go off. Seriously, its just not worth it. Too many angry and crazy people out there. Challenge the wrong Trumper and you can get seriously hurt. Or end up having to use self defense and both of you get arrested.
Its not worth it. Gone are the days that you can get cut off in traffic and honk and maybe give the finger. Same with mask stuff....I would not recommend challenging these people.
And you will not change even one mind anyway so you are risking getting hurt for nothing.

(8,934 posts)I know the crazies exist but most covidiots know they are the minority, I'm single and fit and I see the little old women and
men buying their staples, fully masked and gloved, knowing how vulnerable they are and how little the covidiots care for their existence, yes, someone needs to speak on their behalf, acknowledge the truth about this situation in a time relevant way.
The media gives unlimited airtime to these morons complaining about their rights and happily lists the death rates and ignoring the vulnerable.

Other than the occasional dirty look, nothing to report (knock wood).
