Fed up with the daily antics, another student spoke up.
Noticing Bauman was recording her, the student reached for his phone. Bauman swiftly grabbed her hand, twisted it and pushed her against the gate, police said. Officers pulled him off the student.
Fort Lauderdale police immediately arrested Bauman, who has repeatedly had law enforcement called on him for alleged mask violations, and charged him with child abuse, according to the arrest report.

grabbed for his phone, his possessions, and he has a right not to sit there and allow that to happen to his person.
That will be their argument.

I've seen his video as well, and one of the remarkable things about it is the enormous "NO TRESPASSING, NO LOITERING" sign visible behind him.
He is not a student at that school, and unless him filming minors without consent is somehow an authorized purpose to be there, then backing up what he does and does not "have a right" to do is the question of what the fuck was he doing crowding an exit from the school and forcing minors to be filmed without their consent?
You go stand by a school and film students and see how long you last out there exercising some imaginary 'right' of adults to loiter on school property.
She put her hand up and did not want to be filmed, and unless he intends to go on the stand, there is not a single witness which is going to back him up on the suggestion that he was assaulted and acting in self defense.
We know for a FACT that there will be no such witnesses, because it is apparent to them that he was not defending himself. We know this because they arrested him on the spot.
And, back that up again and ask yourself in relation to my first question, why he was surrounded by cops in the first place?
The girl was trying to exit her school and it is obvious that he was impeding the path of every student simply trying to leave and go home.

(1,666 posts)If he didnt have a right to be there in the first place. Sorta like you cant start a fight, then pull a gun when it doesnt go your way and expect to win on a self defense argument.
At least in most cases. Maybe there a few cases out there where the roles of assaulter and victim got reversed (legally speaking) because of going overboard on self defense.

(8,387 posts)But, regardless, his action was disproportionate, and he was not already surrounded by officers because they were having a friendly neighborhood chat.

(65,031 posts)At the local middle & high schools, I'm actually a registered substitute.
But, if I just parked my car in the lot & hung out for an hour, they'd come and say "GaAC, what are you doing here today?"
And, they know me and that I have good intentions.
Just can't hang out, uninvited, on school property.

Now he will hope for a trumpie judge so he can claim he was just having a bad day.

Or, quite possibly, both.

(4,831 posts)From the NYTimes:
The spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, called it a temporary policy intended to protect women until the Taliban could ensure their safety.
We are worried our forces who are new and have not been yet trained very well may mistreat women, Mr. Mujahid said. We dont want our forces, God forbid, to harm or harass women.
Mr. Mujahid said that women should stay home until we have a new procedure, and that their salaries will paid in their homes.
His statement echoed comments from Ahmadullah Waseq, the deputy of the Talibans cultural affairs committee, who told The New York Times this week that the Taliban had no problem with working women, as long as they wore hijabs.

It's fun watching an evil political party actually killing and destroying their own people while watching those very same people being super patriotically willing to die or go to prison.
It's a super sick kind of mental illness, and normally I'd have compassion, but I say fuck 'em. One less Republican vote with every one that goes down.

(4,291 posts)OK, the authorities will have to seek a massive change-of-venue (I live way outside of Broward County), but I would consider it a serious honor and public duty to serve on the jury impaneled to try his case. I promise to weight the facts in evidence as presented and render a fair and objective verdict.
As if it would every get to trial...
