Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI really hope in spite of the deaths occurring in Afghanistan, that we evacuate all Americans and
allies that want to leave, and do NOT get misled by those who will call for us to continue our presence there indefinitely.
While this will slow down the evacuation, there is no doubt that it will not stop the evacuations, until every American, and those who helped us, who want to leave, are afforded that chance

(4,167 posts)There are just some places I wouldnt take my kids hell, I wouldnt allow them to go to certain places in the US, yet alone Afghanistan

The students were not in Afghanistan on a school trip. They were students/families who were originally from Afghanistan and CHOSE to go back there on their own (the parent's decision) during their summer vacation, presumably to visit extended family who still lived there. It had zero to do with the school, except that the students happened to attend the same school. The school was merely signal boosting their situation in the hopes that more attention to the story would result in them having a better chance of getting out.

President Biden will probably address this as well.
