(153,193 posts)I sent care packages and cards to the troops in Afghanistan for fifteen years.....I very often included stuff for the locals, especially children (example, hundreds of beanie babies inherited by a coworker).....seeing all the comments from right wing assholes who have NEVER CARED about the troops OR the Afghan people MAKES ME SICK - these folk DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYONE OR ANYTHING except their own power....it's all just too much.

(11,744 posts)The problem is that they aren't good tools with which to hit Biden. Americans don't care about Afghans. Most don't even know where Afghanistan is. After 20 years being in the country, I would be willing to make a large wager that at least 50% of Americans could NOT point to Afghanistan on a black map of the world.
War is stupid. If someone invades your country, you defend, you fight for your people. This was terrorism. This was ISIS lashing out at the Taliban for selling out. It cost American soldiers and Afghan civilians their lives. It is a tragedy. The whole 20 years has been a tragedy.
