I just read an application for a dispatcher job and the person claimed they were "really good at telling people where to go, just ask anyone" this type of comment doesn't help you. Carry on.

(5,394 posts)The best one I had was an applicant's mother coming in with him for a job interview.

(2,343 posts)in which the applicant had written "Asked to leave due to mistakes" in the box marked "Reason for leaving". Hell, at least lie. Needless to say, I didn't interview that person.

(11,924 posts)that an employee who was "laid off" due to lack of work on a Friday, was told due to the shop foreman being absent, would have to wait until Monday to pick up his personal toolbox. The reason was to verify that no company owned tools etc were in there.
This was a family owned business that would continue to keep people employed, even during really slow times, because they felt an obligation and didn't want to lose anyone they had trained etc. Took pretty good care of their employees. Generally, if you were "laid off" it was a nice way of letting you go, as you were not doing an adequate job. It happened very infrequently, and people got the hint and found another job.
When informed that he had to wait until Monday to get his tools, the guy had a fit and called the police demanding his property immediately. When they showed up, the owner was livid and told the guy to take his tools and get out.
A few weeks later, the guy called back, asked if the layoff was over and when could he come back to work. lmao
