I admired Mr. Asners work but even more for his devotion to liberal causes. Thanks for all the great things you have given and left the world with Mr. Grant.

(146,339 posts)While the article focused on Tourette Syndrome, it also discussed other orphan diseases that had trouble getting researchers to work on them. He was very affable and knowledgeable about them. He was a supporter of organizations trying to raise money for such illnesses. He was the "celebrity" interviewee. Magazines and their readers like celebrities.

(25,987 posts)Ed Asner was such a wonderful person, amazing actor, and all around good guy. He had a long and full life, and he will be missed so very much.

(46,245 posts)In 1987, Asner conceived a child out of wedlock. Once the courts determined it was his son, Asner stepped up to support the child and became his father in more than financial ways. He didn't apologize. He owned it. Was it inconvenient? Sure. Did it have an impact on his pubic image? Perhaps a little. But he was that boy's father.
